Beckenham 2 - 2 New Deres

Postby Doug » Sun Mar 07, 2010 8:54 am

The team rebuilding has started in earnest with so many new players and reserves that it was difficult to recognise as a Deres side.

Not a brilliant performance as this was a team of strangers playing in their first match and it really showed in the opening 10 minutes until we settled down and players began to build an understanding with one another. The wisest new signing was captain Ryan Royston a man mountain who with the help of a top class goalkeeping performance from Matt Bromby held the side together so much so that the new faces gathered confidence from them and we evened up what initially started to look a one-sided match.

Rome was not built in a day and there is acres of room for improvement but we were playing one of the better sides in the league and a team that is not easy to beat on their own ground. What I did see was a battling performance with a never give up attitude and a determination to get something out of the match when we were 2-1 down . Ryan Royston had so much influence on the outfield play that I thought it was all over when he was sent off but with Matt Bromby putting in an amazing performance to keep out the Becks strikers, the rest of the team pulled together, fought back and salvaged a point in the dying minutes.

Well done New Deres.

I heard that the budget had been cut which I suppose was to be expected when our season is over, but how many players have now left the club? There were so many regular players missing and maybe some were injured or under suspension but I am assuming that there are several who may have left. Can we have an update please?

Rightdere....

I have to say when the game started it looked fragmented and disjointed but as you say there were alot of players missing. Once Deane went off you actually had a midfield that looked like it wanted to battle and play for the badge.

Sadly Huss looks a player without any confidence, he had the ability its now up to you if your going to use him as a regular, then play him!!!! Sam May looked lively upfront as did Cotterill on the right. Sadly Discipline let you down again..........Morgan had a good game also......and Bromby was again good in parts.

One last point and take this whatever way you want...........I looked at the prog before the game, there are ex slade green players starting to appear!!! I hope you dont go down that road as you wont win anything.....make it your team not Longhursts!!!!

Thanks for your views and concerns.3 ex slade green players cotteral, sam and luke may all 3 are quality players.
sam and luke won the league last season with VCD they both work hard and will always give their all.cotteral is a player we have been after all season he can play in a number of positions comfortably.
we want winners at the club, honest people who will give everything and never give up.
sending off was a joke, never a red card, but when things are not going your way thats what happens

Credit due to the management, got a new team together at short notice and pulled off a decent result. Not fussed where the players have played before, just want them to stay for a while and give 100%. They appeared to have done the 100% bit lets hope we see them again next week.

Come on lads we are kidding ourselves if we think this current crop of signings are going to do better than the last lot. what I could see was a bunch of other teams rejects running their socks off amazed they have been given this chance. Ryan Royston 10 out of 10 quality always comes to the fore BUT how long we he stick around for ? and why did he leave Erith Town. Bromby as always 20 out of 10 (by your own addmission held Becks at bay almost single handedly) but again how much longer is he prepared to stick around. He should and could play higher and I wonder how long before he is tempted to test freshher waters. Also lets not forget who brought him to our club and where that person is now. Aidan P excellent never stops running, very coolheaded for the pen.
I aggree that it was a battling performance and well done to the lads for the effort put in but honestly league winning team NEVER.

1. Matt Bromby
2. Adam Cottrell
3. Tarik Ozresberoglu
4. Michael Golding
5. Tom Morgan
6. Ryan Royston
7. Tom Cottrell
8. Luke May
9. Sam May
10.Aiden Pursglove
11.Adrian Deane

vs

GK - Bromby
RB - Bedford
LB - Penny
CB - Hill
CB - Waters
CM - Huss
CM - JP Collier
RW - Collins
LW - Tipple
ST - Cable
ST - Neal

Now lets not get ahead of ourselves, a draw against beckenham IS NOT a good result, we are now a team made up of quite a few ex slade green players WHO WERE NOT A GOOD SIDE. Team 2 would have won us the league no ifs no buts. Our team rebuilding is nothing short of shocking and we will NEVER get promotion with that. END OF !!!

Agreed its a very good team on paper. But your quite right, Team 2 didn't play together very often, why was that ? They were there long enough. I believe the majority of the players would still be there if it wasn't for all the changes, that's just my opinion. As a fan I'm interested to know what went on behind closed doors, as from the outside it seems like since the arrival of matt longhurst there has been untold changes of personnel for no apparent reason ? And in the space of no time we've gone from challenging for promotion to settling for a mid table place.

Whats Gone Worng

why such a interest?? If your a true supporter or atleast followed from the start of season you would see why the majority of changes happened....so just curious who do you think was the manager at the start of the season?????????

I think if you know then you will realise why the season has fallen apart and why we have ended up with Radders an Longhurst......I think the probs the management team have now stems from the first probs....and its escalated.....

Come on then WGW....lets here your summing up of the season!!!.....

Not sure we need any more summing up of the past.

What we need is to get behind the manager and look forward to next season.

While not knowing all the inside dealings at the club, it is probably true to say that a few disruptive influences have probably left and actually the team is likely to finish as high in the league as in previous seasons on a lower budget.

The dissapointment stems from a good start and then a run of poor results and going out of the cups early, meaning a lot of meaningless matches left in the last third of the season.

Jajo

It was basically there to see if he was a supporter or just a grumpy dad of an ex player or someone on the wind up....but hey ho you gave him an out so doesnt matter now......if you dont know who the manager was at the start of the season you aint been following the club..... and thats exactly why he hasnt answered!!!! anyways...

In response to ideres4u comment,

Radbourne has been in charge the whole season, first as joint manager with Paul Gorman and more recently as manager, solely in charge (well apparently). My Point is this, Since the arrival of Longhurst the following players have left the club; Bingy, Bell, Collier, Collins, Cable, Gaggsy, Maloney, Penny and Waters and no doubt if we're not very careful some very good players will be joining that already long list.

That's potentially 9 of a very strong starting 11 gone with no explanation, that's too many by anybody's standards. So ideres4u, you tell me What's Gone Wrong (excuse the pun).

I think it's clear for all to see.

And to sum up our season, After a very promising start we are now on a very slippery slope, with good players leaving on a weekly basis. A certain someone has came into the club with their own ideas and players. As a result we now have a different team every week, unrecognizable from the team we had such high hopes for earlier in the season.

I'd like to add, i do feel some sympathy for radbourne as he has been left with the near impossible task of replacing some very good players. And i do believe with the right people around him he will be a very good young manager. Its a shame he's been ill advised and listened to the wrong people but he will learn from his mistakes and we will be alright. Come on the Deres
